New To Scouting?
If you're new to Cub Scouting, you have lot of questions. Is it right for me and my child? Where are meetings and activities held? What is the difference between a pack and a den? How do I join? What do I need to buy? The good news is that we're here to help. We're parents just like you and we want you and your child to enjoy Cub Scouting as much as we do!
For starters, there are five ranks disaggregated by ages (grade level) of the Cub Scouts as shown below:
Each rank has it's own den and den leader, except for the Webelos rank. Since that rank spans 4th and 5th grade, there are two dens and the 5th grade den is known as the 'Arrow of Light' den. A child can join the Cub Scouts at any time and does not need to make up the requirements for previous ranks. Many of the 'adventures,' activities dens engage in to fulfill rank requirements, are age appropriate and will not be interesting to older children.
Each den meets once or twice a month to work on requirements toward earning their rank. The first badge ALL new scouts must earn, regardless of incoming rank, is the Bobcat. To earn it, scouts must learn the Cub Scout Oath, Cub Scout Law and Cub Scout Motto (shown below). Don’t worry! Den leaders and returning scouts will help your new scout learn these! We use Scoutbook to keep track of each scout’s advancements as well as to email reminders for upcoming events. Once your scout joins, we will invite you to be a member of Pack 150’s Scoutbook website.
Den meeting dates, times, and locations for each den can be found on our website calendar. You may attend a couple of meetings and an event before making the decision to join our pack but please contact our Cub Scout Pack Master to verify dates and times are correct. Detailed information about Pack 150 itself is in this flyer.
The following forms are necessary to join Cub Scout Pack 150:

Once you decide to join Cub Scout Pack 150, the pack will give your scout a hat, neckerchief, and slide. You need to purchase a scout uniform shirt, belt, pants (optional) and the necessary patches from either the online store at https://www.scoutshop.org/ or a Baltimore Area Council Scout Shop. Pack 150 does not mandate formal BSA pants but we do ask that you provide pants that match the uniform shirt. The Cub Scout belt is necessary because its width is special to accommodate adventure belt loops your child will earn. The patches you need are the American flag, the numbers 1, 5, and 0, the Baltimore Area Council shoulder patch, World Scout Crest Emblem, 1910 World Crest Ring Emblem, and the appropriate den number patch. An example uniform with the necessary patches circled is shown to the right.
