CAMP HASHAWHA
Cub Scout Pack 150's annual Camp Hashawha outing is an event not to be missed! It is usually held in early to mid April and the weekend-long event is family friendly - siblings and parents are more than welcome. We actually sleep indoors in group bunk-bed style arrangements - separate buildings for men and women. Cub Scouts and dads will sleep with their dens.
Arrival is 6 PM or later on a Friday evening. Saturday is filled with activities and ends with our April pack meeting around a camp fire. Sunday morning includes breakfast, a Scout's Own Service, camp clean up and exit at 10:00 AM.

2019 Camp Hashawha
Activities included canoeing, a treasure hunt and observing wildlife along the lake, as well as netting whatever the Scouts could catch. Unlucky critters were dumped in a plastic bucket for further observation.
Other activities included a hike to the Nature Center where the Scouts could learn more about the Maryland environment and make friends with some of the critters kept there. Laser tag is always a huge hit and Scouts played Nuke 'Em during their "down time."
One of the weekend highlights was a visit from some folks involved with "living history" for the Viking time period. In a nutshell, they were fantastic. Not only were they very knowledgeable about the Vikings, they were able to tell interesting stories, answer questions in detail and make things! One of them made a bracelet on the spot and the other demonstrated how to make chain mail. Impressive!
2018 Camp Hashawha
Pack 150's annual Camp Hashawha weekend was April 13-15 this year, and it was not a disappointment! Kudos to Chrissy and her Bear den for a great job planning and executing the weekend!
There was a space theme this year and activities such as a planetarium visit, model rocket building and "can constellation" crafts built on that theme. The model rockets were launched by pumping and increasing air pressure, then pulling a lanyard to release. The scouts and siblings in attendance clearly had fun!
In addition to the space themed activities, Scouts and their families also engaged in popular Camp Hashawha mainstays such as hiking, canoeing and laser tag.
Our Saturday evening pack meeting included a flag retirement, some flag history and reasons why we should respect our flag and what it means. This was followed by sentencing many marshmallows to their death by fire. Sunday morning ended with a quick photo of some of the Scouts and siblings after they canvassed the area for any trash. There are quite a few toads in this pond and our Scouts behaved exactly as you'd expect young boys to behave. Please wash toad fingers before you eat!
